Answering the community’s wish for a collecting place, and seizing the possible of the website, the new Hennepin County Library Maple Grove is made as a pavilion in a park, joining citizens to information, the outside, and the more expensive community. Previously 10 years, Maple Grove has grown to become one of Minnesota’s biggest suburbs. The location has developed from a natural walnut savanna and agricultural fields to gravel mines providing their state highway system. That ever-changing landscape of individual development led to barren land and artificial ponds (leftover from mining activity) as the near future site for the library.

The design team’s purpose was to make a neighborhood residing room, formed by information and technology. The design integrates outside opinions and places, such as a examining deck, which generates a strong inside-outside connection and extends the knowledge beyond the surfaces of the library.

Power conservation was a driving force in the design. The creating was shaped to maximize daylight. An projected 22.8% energy savings arises from sunshine harvesting and yet another 24% from alternative energy sources.
