How to Send SMS message

Sending a text message or an SMS message is relatively easy. So long as you have a mobile phone and are subscribed to a local carrier, you can send SMS messages to anyone you want to. Just make sure that you have available credit with your mobile phone carrier and you have the right phone number where you’ll send your message.

Younger generations or youngsters easily learn how to send SMS messages. Older generations or older people have a harder time learning the new technology since in their time, all they may have been used to may be the telegram, or the old mail service (snail mail). Simple steps to receive and send SMS message

2. Go to “Create Messages” and push the select button.

3. Enter your message using the letters on the keypad. Take note that mobile phone keypads have a different keypad setting than computers which have QWERTY keypads. Numbers 2 to 9 have corresponding letters to each of them which when you press, will produce the letter you desire based on a number of presses. For example, to type the letter “e,” you will have to press the keypad number 3 twice. The press time you press it, the letter “d” will appear in the screen. Press it again to make “e” appear on the screen. Then repeat the process for all the other letters you need to type out. Note: press 0 for space and the number 1 keypad for commonly used punctuation marks. Press the asterisk sign to access more symbols and other punctuation marks. Press the pound sign if you want to switch from ALL CAPS to small letters, to T9 (smart typing) – a phone software that tries to guess what you are typing and completes the words for you.

4. Once you have completed typing your message, go to “Options” and press “Select.” Take note that different phones will have different character limits allowed for each message you send.

5. You will be prompted to enter the number of phone where you will be sending the message. You can either type the number directly, or if the number is saved in your phonebook, you can access your phonebook and select the recipient’s name.

6. After selecting the recipient’s number, press “send.”

7. Wait for confirmation that your message have been sent.

8. Voila! You are now able to send SMS message on your own.

Texting etiquette which you may want to observe

1. Try not to use ALL CAPS when sending your messages. Be aware that this is considered shouting in messaging culture and can offend or hurt the recipient

2. Never text while you are driving. This is dangerous and can only lead to accidents.

3. Common courtesy still rules. Don’t think that just because you are not conversing face to face you can act rude and use bad words.
